Maintenance windows
Keep planned work from setting off alerts or counting against uptime.
What a maintenance window does
Planning a server move or an update? A maintenance window tells Pingerer to expect it. During the window, failed checks on the chosen sites:
- don't open incidents or send alerts (recoveries still do);
- aren't counted in uptime percentages or reports;
- are listed on the window's page as "held back", so you can see what happened.
If something is still broken when the window ends, it's confirmed and alerted as usual.
Creating one
Open Maintenance and click Schedule maintenance. Choose a title, start and end time (in your time zone), and all sites or chosen ones. Add a message for your status page if you like.
Repeating windows
Choose Weekly and the days, for example every Sunday 2am to 3am. A repeating window can last up to a day each time.
On status pages
Upcoming maintenance shows on any published status page that includes those sites, up to 14 days ahead. Subscribers are emailed before it starts (24 hours by default; change or turn off per window).
Heartbeats
Heartbeats aren't covered by maintenance windows. Pause a heartbeat if its job is off on purpose.
