Overview

Your status page can live at an address of your own, like status.yourbakery.com. You add two DNS records: a CNAME that points the address at Pingerer, and a TXT record that proves the domain is yours. Pingerer then issues an HTTPS certificate for it automatically.

Steps

  1. In the status page editor, open Custom domain and enter the address, for example status.yourbakery.com.
  2. At your DNS provider, add the two records the editor shows. They look like this:
    TypeNameValue
    CNAMEstatuspages.pingerer.com
    TXT_pingerer.statuspingerer-verify=… (your token)
  3. Pingerer looks for the TXT record every 5 minutes. Click Check now to look right away.
  4. Once the TXT record is found, the domain is connected and a certificate is issued, usually within a few minutes. The page then answers on your address.

Good to know

  • Use a subdomain. Most DNS providers don't allow a CNAME on the bare domain (yourbakery.com). Use status. or similar, or your provider's ALIAS or "CNAME flattening".
  • Cloudflare users: set the CNAME to "DNS only" (grey cloud) so the certificate can be issued.
  • Some providers add your domain to the name automatically; if so, enter just status and _pingerer.status.
  • If no matching TXT record is found within 7 days, verification stops. Click Check now to start again.
  • A domain verified by one account can't be taken over by another. If you need to move one, contact support.
