Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated October 27, 2026
Pingerer sends requests to the addresses you give it, from our servers, on a schedule. That's powerful, so this policy sets out what's allowed. It's part of our Terms of Service.
Only monitor what you own or are authorized to monitor
You may add a website, server, domain, IP address or service only if you own it, or you have permission from whoever does (for example, a client who hired you to look after their site). If we ask, you must be able to show that permission.
Not allowed
- Load or stress testing: using Pingerer to generate traffic to see how much a server can take, or setting up many checks on one target to increase traffic.
- Scanning or probing: checking ranges of addresses or ports, looking for vulnerabilities, or mapping networks you don't control.
- Attacks and abuse: anything meant to disrupt, overload or get unauthorized access to a system, including denial-of-service.
- Private networks: trying to reach internal, private or cloud metadata addresses through our probes. We block these, and repeated attempts may get an account suspended.
- Unwanted messages: adding people to alerts, SMS or status page subscriptions without their agreement, or using alerts or status pages to send spam.
- Illegal or harmful content on status pages, including content that infringes others' rights, impersonates someone, or is fraudulent.
- Getting around limits: creating several free accounts, or sharing one account between unrelated businesses, to avoid plan limits; interfering with the Service's security or rate limits; reselling the Service without our agreement.
Free plan fair use
The free plan is for genuine personal, side-project and small-business use. We may limit accounts that look automated or that use far more resources than normal use would.
What we may do
To protect the people being checked and the Service, we may, without notice where necessary:
- refuse or block particular targets,
- pause checks, alert channels or status pages,
- suspend or close an account, and
- cooperate with the owners of affected systems and with law enforcement.
Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you what happened and give you a chance to fix it.
Reporting abuse
If you think Pingerer is being used against a system you're responsible for, email [email protected] or use our contact form with the address being checked and the times you saw it. Our probes identify themselves in their User-Agent.
