Adding a site
What happens when you paste a URL, and which checks Pingerer turns on.
Paste a URL
On Sites, click Add site and type your address. You can leave out https://; we'll try it for you. Pingerer then looks the address up: whether it answers over HTTPS, who issued the certificate and when it expires, the domain's registrar and renewal date, its DNS records, and whether it receives email.
Choose the checks
Based on what it finds, Pingerer suggests checks. Each one is a monitor and counts towards your plan's monitor limit:
| Check | What it watches | How often |
|---|---|---|
| Uptime (HTTP) | The page loads with a good status code, fast enough | Your plan's interval |
| SSL certificate | Expiry, trust and the right name | Every 6 hours |
| Domain expiry | The registration's renewal date | Daily |
| DNS | Changes to A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS and TXT records | Every 15 minutes |
| Email setup | SPF, DKIM and DMARC | Daily |
Domain, DNS and email checks look at the main domain (yourbakery.com), even if you added a subdomain like shop.yourbakery.com.
After adding
The site starts as Pending until the first results arrive, usually within a minute. Then it's Up, Degraded (working, but something needs attention, like a certificate expiring soon) or Down. Open the site to see each monitor, the response time chart and incidents.
Changing or pausing checks
Open a monitor to change its settings, or pause it. Paused monitors don't count toward your limit. Pausing a site pauses all its monitors. Deleting a site, or a check, stops its checks and takes it off your dashboard. Its history is kept, and you can add the same address again any time.
What you're allowed to add
Only sites and servers you own or are authorized to monitor. Private and internal addresses (like 192.168.x.x or localhost) can't be checked from the internet and are refused. See the acceptable use policy.
